Last week our team spend 3 days on a workacion, presenting and discussing our latest research. In total 30 early carreers to senior scientist from the chair of hydrology as well as the chair of environmental & hydrological systems joined the trip to a remote hut on the scenic mountain “Belchen” in the southern Black Forest. While most of our time was reserved for presenting our latest projects to each other, some time was also free for winter activities like hiking and sledging.
In the evenings, our professors gave short presentations and led discussions on how to find new research ideas as well as how to apply for a higher position in academia. Key takeaway of the last-one was definitely to keep track of all the theses supervised and courses taught by managing lists and excel documents. The feedback to my presentation as well as the discussions and input really inspired me and gave me new ideas for my research and also this website.
